Max Verstappen described the Monaco Grand Prix as incredibly boring, joking about needing a cushion and a bathroom break during the race.
While the Monaco Grand Prix might have been thrilling for Charles Leclerc, some drivers had a different experience.
Max Verstappen was among them, jokingly asking for a cushion during the race… and a bathroom break!
When asked if he headed to the bathroom immediately after the race, Verstappen was candid. “Yes, I went straight away!”
“It was an incredibly boring race for me, of course. And when the red flag came out, our strategy was immediately ruined.”
George Russell was in his way the entire time.
“Yes, he drove very defensively all the way. Knowing that medium tires are more fragile than hard tires, I wasn’t going to overtake him anyway.”
“We really saved the tires up to the pit stop.”
“I drove slowly, very slowly indeed. I was about four seconds off normal lap times. So I knew that when Lewis [Hamilton] pitted, I had to keep pushing as hard as possible.”
“We did encounter some traffic, so the middle sector wasn’t optimal. But yes, it was enough. A good pit stop, and I was able to maintain my position and keep waving at George.”
