Verstappen Delivers Honda a Dream Send-Off with Suzuka Victory

Verstappen Triumphs in Japan with Flawless Farewell Win

Max Verstappen claimed a crucial win at Suzuka, giving Honda a perfect farewell as Red Bull dominated with precision and control.

Max Verstappen delivered a dominant performance at Suzuka, turning a surprise pole position into a commanding win over the McLaren drivers. It marked his fourth consecutive victory at the Japanese Grand Prix—and the 64th of his Formula 1 career.

“It was tough out there,” Verstappen admitted. “We really pushed, especially on the final set of tires. The McLarens were quick, and it was a fun but tricky race to manage.”

Despite a rocky start to the weekend, Verstappen and Red Bull made steady progress, with the Dutchman praising the team’s relentless effort: “We didn’t give up. We kept working on the car, and today it felt the best it’s been. Starting from pole was key to winning this race.”

Even though the RB21 isn’t the outright best car in the early stages of the season, Verstappen is keeping himself firmly in the title fight. “It’s crucial to make the most of every opportunity,” he said. “And I think we did that really well this weekend.”

Red Bull ran a special livery inspired by the classic Honda RA272, as a tribute to their partnership with the Japanese manufacturer—marking their final home race together. Verstappen admitted the moment wasn’t lost on him.

“This one meant a lot. In the closing laps, I kept thinking I had to stay in front—it would be the perfect way to say goodbye to Honda here in Japan. I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved together. This really was a perfect send-off.”
