Max Verstappen clinches his 4th title, overcoming a grueling season and salvaging Red Bull’s campaign in spectacular fashion.
Max Verstappen continues to be Red Bull’s shining star, as it is now almost certain that his 4th title will be the team’s only championship this year. McLaren F1 and Ferrari have pulled far ahead in the Constructors’ standings, even with 145 points still up for grabs in Qatar (including its Sprint) and Abu Dhabi.
Christian Horner acknowledged after the race, “It was the toughest since 2021, that’s for sure.”
“We started very well, but the others caught up over the summer—McLaren, Mercedes, Ferrari—they all looked competitive.”
“Max never lost his composure. He led when he had the car, and when he didn’t, he managed to extract every ounce of performance. That’s what set him apart from his rivals this year, and he did an incredible job.”
And today, no risks—a sign of maturity?
“We seemed competitive on medium tires, and the first stint on hards went well. We had some graining, but Max didn’t want to take any risks. The goal was to beat Lando today, and we did it. Seeing him crowned for a fourth time is special.”
Red Bull embraces this competition, even if the Constructors’ title eludes them this season.
“I think it galvanizes the team. We had to fight, and it brought the team closer together. Behind the scenes, there were long nights, early mornings in Milton Keynes—their commitment has been phenomenal, and this success belongs to them.”
Horner is not ready to reflect on Red Bull’s season, but Verstappen’s legacy is already clear.
“It’s been a rollercoaster year, and Max has been truly exceptional. We started strong, had a tough summer, but he kept delivering results. He won eight Grands Prix, more than double any other driver. He was simply outstanding this year—it was his best and most challenging championship. He showed maturity and rose to the occasion on the days when the car wasn’t quite there.”
“No one deserves this championship more than Max. It was hard-fought, and all the credit goes to the men and women behind the scenes in Milton Keynes who worked tirelessly, late into the nights and early mornings week after week. It has been tough.”
“When we achieved four titles with Seb, I thought we’d never repeat that. Winning in 2021 was monumental, and now standing here with Max after securing four championships and joining a group of elite champions places him among the greatest of all time.”
