Max Verstappen reflects on his fourth title win, declaring it “very rewarding,” while closing the debate with Norris and Leclerc.
Verstappen shared his emotions a few days after securing his fourth world title at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with the Dutch driver admitting it was satisfying to celebrate the achievement after a “very intense” season.
When asked about his feelings a few days after his latest title, the 27-year-old driver responded: “It was great, I was really happy with my season and to win in Vegas. For me, it was a very intense season, so it was also nice to celebrate it a bit.”
When asked if this championship felt more special than his previous three, Verstappen acknowledged that it was a rewarding feeling, especially given the tough competition Red Bull faced in 2024.
“My titles have all been very different, but I think this one has been very rewarding in the end.”
“It wasn’t always the easiest for us as a team, and to walk away with this championship… I really felt it when I crossed the line in Vegas, I thought ‘It’s done!’ It was tough at times, but I’m really proud of how we handled everything.”
Reflecting further on whether the close battle between the top teams made things more exciting this year, and also for 2025, Verstappen said: “For now, it really doesn’t affect me.”
“I’m just trying to do my best at the end of this season and for next year, we know we have a lot to improve, and that’s what we’ll focus on. Once we start next year, we’ll see where we are. It’s not really something I’m thinking about at the moment.”
Verstappen himself sparked controversy by claiming he would have won the title driving for McLaren or Ferrari. Norris and Leclerc mocked these comments.
Is he surprised?
“No, but no one needs to respond. I know exactly what I can and can’t do. We don’t need to talk about it. We don’t need to spend time trying to belittle people or anything. The championship is over. We’ll all try again next year to win it.”
Verstappen: Red Bull “already has some ideas” for improvements in 2025. The Dutchman also wants to enjoy his fourth title.
Max Verstappen will wear a white and gold helmet this weekend, featuring four stars at the rear, following his fourth world title in Las Vegas. The Red Bull driver waited until he was crowned champion to reveal the helmet and matching shoes, which he will use in Qatar this weekend and then in Abu Dhabi.
“These things are always in the back of your mind. They were already in Vegas, but I didn’t want to see them before the title. Every year, we try to do something different, and I’m sure it will look nice under the lights,” Verstappen said.
With four consecutive championships, he could match Michael Schumacher if he wins a fifth straight title next year. The Dutchman admits he is already thinking about next season and that development of the RB21 has already begun.
“To be honest, I want to try to learn during these last two races, but we already have some ideas on what we want to change for next year. Only time will tell if it’s competitive or not.”
