Max Verstappen bounced back from an early mistake to claim pole position at the Miami Grand Prix, outpacing McLaren drivers.
Max Verstappen claimed his third pole position of the season at the Miami Grand Prix, marking a strong showing for Red Bull. Despite making an error early in his final lap, the Dutch driver managed to outpace the McLaren drivers and hold onto the top spot.
“It was a really good qualifying session,” Verstappen said. “We made improvements to the car, which allowed me to get more out of it. Throughout Q1, Q2, and Q3, we made progress with each run, getting closer to the limit. I made a mistake at the first corner on my final lap, lost a bit of time, but it all worked out in the end.”
Looking ahead to the race, Verstappen faces challenges from McLaren, who are positioned behind him and could have better tire management. He also knows that starts can be tricky for him, as he’s sometimes his own worst enemy when it comes to launches.
“We’ll see how the race pace is, as we don’t know where we stand yet, and the weather will also play a role. But starting from the front is definitely a positive, and we’ll aim to maximize everything during the race.”
