Verstappen Kicks Off Miami GP Weekend with a Cone Joke

Max Verstappen jokes from afar as Tsunoda embraces Miami’s heat, Red Bull duties, and a chance to shine on Sprint weekend.

Max Verstappen won’t be in Miami this Thursday for the media day that traditionally kicks off the Grand Prix weekend. The Dutch driver, who’s expecting his first child with partner Kelly Piquet, is skipping the early press duties but still shared his thoughts ahead of the race via Red Bull Racing.

“I enjoyed a quiet weekend before things get busy again in Miami,” he said. “Sprint weekends here are always intense, there’s never a dull moment. The track itself is interesting, with a mix of slow and fast corners, plus some tricky banked sections.”

He added a light-hearted touch, joking about the infamous traffic cone he hit during last year’s event: “It’s always hot here, and this track is one of the most physical ones we race on. But the energy is great, the fans are amazing, and hopefully, we can avoid the cones this time!”

Meanwhile, Yuki Tsunoda is looking to keep up his momentum in the RB21 and is aiming to grab more points for the team.

“It’s awesome to be back in Miami, and yeah, it’s going to be hot as usual!” Tsunoda said. “I really enjoy the vibe here. The food is great, the beach is amazing, so it’s the perfect mix of chill and fun.”

Since joining Red Bull Racing, Tsunoda’s schedule has been packed with activities off-track. “It’s been busy, but I’ve had a lot of fun with the team. Now it’s time to lock in and focus on the racing.”

Tsunoda also spent time at the factory after the Jeddah GP and got some laps in with the RB19 at Silverstone. “We’ve put in a lot of hours together and learned a lot. With it being a Sprint weekend, every moment counts — both in and out of the car. If everything goes to plan, hopefully, we’ll end Sunday with some big smiles.”
