Verstappen Jets Into Miami as Baby Watch Continues

Max Verstappen lands in Miami after skipping media day, with fans and Red Bull unsure if baby news has already arrived.

Max Verstappen has officially touched down in Miami ahead of this weekend’s Formula 1 Grand Prix, and he brought some good news with him.

The Dutch driver made a late departure from Europe, skipping Thursday’s media day. Red Bull confirmed his absence was due to personal reasons, explaining that his partner Kelly was expecting the arrival of their baby.

It’s still unclear whether the baby has already been born or if Verstappen simply delayed his trip to be by Kelly’s side as long as possible. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko had recently hinted that the due date was set for May 6.

Verstappen’s private jet departed from Nice, France, not far from his Monaco home, at 4 p.m. local time yesterday. He landed in Miami around 8 p.m. and headed straight for a technical debrief with his engineering team at the hotel.

Waiting for him was some welcome news, Red Bull had managed to complete a brand-new floor for the RB21 just in time. Originally scheduled for debut at Imola, this upgrade will now be available for Verstappen in Miami.

There’s only one unit of the new floor, so it’s exclusively reserved for Verstappen. Yuki Tsunoda, who drives for Red Bull’s sister team, won’t have access to the upgrade this weekend.

Max may only use the new floor during the single free practice session, depending on its performance. Even if it proves tricky to handle in the Sprint format, Red Bull is keen to gather as much data as possible.
