Max Verstappen reveals Rob Marshall’s move to McLaren is a game-changer and admits Red Bull is feeling the pressure now.
Max Verstappen believes Rob Marshall’s move to McLaren has played a major role in shifting the balance of power in Formula 1. The Red Bull driver openly admitted that his team has been feeling the impact since their former Chief Engineering Officer left to join one of their main rivals.
“Yes, I definitely think he is making a difference. You could see it almost immediately after he joined McLaren,” Verstappen said. He also admitted that Red Bull cannot expect to make the same kind of dramatic improvements that McLaren has recently achieved.
“Right now, it is not realistic to think we can make such a big step forward. We are trying to gain as much time as possible, but it is hard to say exactly how much progress we can make. Everyone else is pushing hard too.”
Despite the challenges, Verstappen sees a positive sign within Red Bull. “At least now we know where our problems are. Until Monza last year, we had no idea what we were looking for. Things are much clearer today, and that gives us hope that we can bring updates to rebalance the car.”
However, Verstappen is realistic about the road ahead and acknowledges that winning a fifth title this season will not be easy. “Of course, this is not what we want, but what can I do? I could scream and shout, but it would not change anything. I still want it badly, but unfortunately, you cannot win everything every year.”
