Racing Bulls completed a trouble-free opening test in Sakhir, with Tsunoda and Hadjar logging strong mileage and gathering crucial data for the season ahead.
Racing Bulls kicks off testing in Sakhir with Yuki Tsunoda at the wheel in the morning, as the Japanese driver now serves as the team’s benchmark.
At the wheel of the VCARB 02, he completed 78 laps and set the 10th fastest time of the day.
“A good day during which we collected a lot of data. The main objective of the first day was to understand the car’s characteristics and behavior. Overall, the car performed as we expected, which is positive. Of course, there were a few small details to look into, but that’s what pre-season testing is for. There were no major issues, so credit to the team for what was clearly strong work over the winter. I’m looking forward to the next two days.”
In the afternoon, Isack Hadjar took over. The Frenchman lapped at a similar pace to his teammate, setting the 11th fastest time with a solid total of 76 laps.
“It was fun! We completed our program, and I felt comfortable in the car. Of course, it’s just the beginning, so there’s still a lot to work on, especially on short runs. For my first official test day, I think it went well, and I adapted quickly, so I’d say it was a good first day.”
For sporting director Alan Permane, “it’s a good start for our VCARB 02.”
“Our day went more or less as planned, with both drivers covering over 400 kilometers. They were generally satisfied, though of course, it’s very early, and we had to deal with challenging testing conditions today—a very cold track and quite a lot of wind. There were no dramas, and we completed our planned program, so we’re ready to tackle the remaining two days.”
