Frédéric Vasseur expressed delight as Leclerc clinched a pivotal victory for Ferrari at the Italian Grand Prix.
Frédéric Vasseur could not conceal his elation at the conclusion of the Italian Grand Prix, having witnessed Charles Leclerc secure a home victory for Ferrari. The Scuderia’s director praised a triumphant strategy and flawless teamwork, as he shared with Canal+’s microphone.
“For Charles, it’s the perfect season with wins at Monaco and Monza! For us too it’s extraordinary, the team additionally knows the strategy was superb. I’m truly happy for everyone, and especially for Charles,” stated the Frenchman, who was incredulous until the chequered flag.
“Absolutely, but I try to remain extremely calm on the pit wall. One never knows what might happen; we were somewhat tense with the strategy and the tyres. I only realised at the end, and it might take another day or two, but I’ll feel better after that.”
He affirmed that Ferrari never doubted their chances of winning despite facing an undercut from Lando Norris: “Doubt? No, we had the one-stop strategy from the start. We had our doubts at one moment but we were barely degrading.”
When asked about the lessons from the race, Vasseur allowed his joy to take precedence: “What I’ve learned, not much. And that’s not the point, I don’t care what I learn today! I just want to enjoy it because one does not always win at Monza, and we’ll have time on Monday and Tuesday to think about that and to prepare for Baku.”
