Ferrari’s Vasseur sets sights on a series of races expected to favor the SF-24, sparking high expectations.
Ferrari will continue to introduce updates during the latter part of the year, aiming to definitively address the bouncing issues affecting their SF-24. This endeavor is expected to enhance performance for the team.
“Addressing the bouncing is a step forward in performance. Yes, definitely. We are striving to bring something, and we will do so as soon as possible,” asserts the Scuderia’s director.
Vasseur is optimistic about the upcoming race series following Zandvoort: “We have a good series of circuits with Monza, Baku, and Singapore. These are favorable tracks for our car’s characteristics.”
“The most important thing is to score points, and that was the goal when we arrived at Spa. Not to lose points to McLaren and Red Bull, and we achieved that. And it will be the same goal at Zandvoort, as I am convinced that the three or four races following these will be much better for us.”
The Frenchman commended the way some teams manage to unlock performance: “I would say this race is a very good example for everyone because Mercedes was struggling on Friday. And when we say struggling, they were probably at the back of the leading pack, but by just two tenths.”
“As soon as you fix something or make progress, you can move from seventh or eighth to first or second. We emphasize that we must pay attention to every detail. Two years ago, if you finished fourth and seventh, you ended up 60 seconds behind Max Verstappen.”
“Last week in Budapest, we finished in the same position as a year ago, but we’re no longer 65 seconds behind, we’re 20. Now, we really need to keep everything under control, not overreact, pay attention to details, and I’m quite positive.”
Vasseur reminds that the challenge in such a tight season is to score points and minimize losses when the car is less competitive, facing close rivals: “I think the hardest part, probably, in this championship, isn’t achieving a one-two when you have the best car, but scoring good points when you don’t.”
“And that’s where we failed, as a team, in the UK, Spain, and Canada. During this part of the season, we struggled a bit more, sometimes reacted excessively, and lost too many points at that stage.”
“But I think we are back and trying our best to score more points than Red Bull, and three or four points fewer than McLaren. That’s a good result for us. Before this race last year, we were 339 points behind Red Bull. This year, we are at 67.”
