Ferrari boss Vasseur hails Leclerc’s strong podium in Jeddah while stressing qualifying struggles remain a key area for improvement.
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur left the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix with a sense of optimism after Charles Leclerc delivered a strong performance to claim a well-earned podium in Jeddah.
“It was a solid race, especially from Charles, who secured a well-deserved third place,” Vasseur said. “He played it safe at the start, staying cautious in dirty air, but that was part of our strategy to extend the first stint. His tire management was spot-on, and once he got into clean air around lap 10, he really pushed and put in an impressive drive.”
At times during the race, Leclerc’s pace even matched or exceeded that of Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen, the two drivers who finished ahead of him. For Vasseur, that’s a sign of progress.
“It shows we’re moving in the right direction, at least in terms of race-day performance,” he noted. “But we still have work to do in qualifying – that’s where we need to improve.”
Looking ahead, Vasseur said the focus now shifts to the next round in Miami. “Starting Monday, we’re back to work. We’re taking the season one race at a time, keeping the same mindset and commitment we had last year. That won’t change.”
