Uncertainty for Bottas Pessimism from Zhou

Stake F1 Unlikely to Crack Top 15 in Belgium

26/07/2024

Stake F1 sees little hope in Belgium, with Bottas unsure and Zhou downcast about their chances.

Stake F1 continues to face challenging weekends, and the practice sessions at the Belgian Grand Prix do not suggest any imminent turnaround. Valtteri Bottas, however, is pleased to have had the opportunity to test various configurations.

“New parts, as in Budapest. It’s a different track, of course. We tested different levels of downforce today and have a better understanding of what we will need for Sunday. The remaining question is tomorrow’s weather,” stated the Finn.

Should the rain be confirmed for tomorrow, Stake might adjust their setups, but the C44s will primarily be configured for the race: “Sunday must remain the priority. It will be fine weather, and regardless of the conditions, we need to set up the car for the race.”

Guanyu Zhou, on the other hand, is rather pessimistic about the team’s goals: “It was tricky. I need to find some pace, and it’s hard to compete for the top 10, even the top 15. We’re at the back, but at the back of this group. We need to find a few tenths to be competitive.”

The Chinese driver is hoping for rain: “We’ll see how the car performs if it rains. If it’s dry, it will be like today, and we really won’t have a solution. So mixed conditions might be better.”
