Tyre Warm-Up Woes Continue to Hinder Bottas and Stake F1

Bottas Frustrated by Stake F1’s Persistent Performance Issues

03/11/2024

Bottas voices frustration over Stake F1’s ongoing struggles, citing tyre issues and lack of competitive performance in challenging race conditions.

Valtteri Bottas had hoped for a stronger weekend at Interlagos, particularly after an impressive qualifying session that brought him close to Q3. Yet the Stake F1 driver was once again plagued by the season’s recurring issues: a lack of performance and poor tyre management.

“We tried everything we could in what was a very peculiar race with challenging, shifting conditions and numerous restarts, including a red flag,” Bottas explained.

“Our biggest issue was tyre warm-up, which set us back during the first few laps after each restart. Once the tyres reached the right temperature, we performed better, but not enough to compete with the cars ahead.”

“Overall, the performance fell short of what I’d expected, but we gave it our all. Now we have time to regroup as the team works hard to bring upgrades as soon as possible for the remaining races.”

Guanyu Zhou finished last on track, despite off-course incidents involving Oliver Bearman and Fernando Alonso. “This weekend has been quite challenging: with the schedule reshuffled and qualifying held on Sunday morning before the race in the afternoon, all teams had to adapt.”

“Today’s race wasn’t easy: with each stint and following every Safety Car, it took 10 to 15 laps to get the tyres in the right window, but by that time, the race had already slipped away.”

“The lack of grip and tough conditions made this race a real challenge. Now, we need to use the time we have before Las Vegas to understand what adjustments are needed to get back in the game.”
