Sergio Pérez was eliminated in Q2 and will start 13th at the Singapore Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver described qualifying as a ‘nightmare’, citing ‘peculiar’ tyres that perplexed several drivers.

Sergio Pérez was ousted in Q2 and will start from 13th on the grid at the Singapore Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver did not hide his disappointment and bewilderment concerning the performance of the tyres, a sentiment echoed by other drivers.

“It’s a nightmare, truly. We were well-prepared for Q1. But in Q2, there was something peculiar with the tyres. I struggled a lot with them, they were very difficult to keep in the right window,” Pérez analysed.

“They had a significant impact on the balance, making a big difference. We were eliminated at that point, unfortunately. The weekend hasn’t been smooth; we’ve lost potential since yesterday and there’s a lot to analyse.”

Usually adept at street circuits, Pérez admits to feeling less confident ahead of the race: “It’s very difficult to overtake here and it will be a very challenging race tomorrow. Once again, I will try to score points, to limit the damage; that will be the goal for tomorrow.”
