Tsunoda’s impressive performance in Miami underscores RB F1’s significant advances this season.
RB F1 has more than doubled its point total in 2024 at Miami, an effort reflecting the team’s “crazy” progress this season, insisted Yuki Tsunoda.
On Saturday, Daniel Ricciardo finished the Sprint race in an impressive fourth place, adding five points to RB F1’s tally, while Tsunoda also collected a point with an eighth-place finish.
But on Sunday, the strong performance of the Japanese driver up to seventh place in the Grand Prix itself added an additional 6 points to the team’s score, bringing their total for the weekend to 12.
Tsunoda’s performance marked his second top 7 of the season and his third top 10 in four races. This is his best start to a season in F1, a solid form that Tsunoda attributes to his team’s hard work this year.
“The number of points we’ve scored this week was significant for us,” Tsunoda stated.
“It shows how much people are working behind the scenes at the factory, how much they are pushing.”
“It’s incredible, and we are happy to score the points we deserve.”
“We had some improvements this week, and I think that helped a lot. I mean, from the free practice sessions, I felt comfortable, and on Saturday Daniel was 4th.”
“In the race, we secured a nice 7th place and were even faster than a Mercedes.”
“We’ve never achieved something like this in the early races; the progress we are making is crazy.”
