Ricciardo Happy with Monaco Return

Yuki Tsunoda impressed in Monaco, finishing eighth and 11th in practice sessions, setting the stage for crucial qualifying. Daniel Ricciardo expressed delight in returning to the iconic circuit.

Yuki Tsunoda finished eighth in FP1 and 11th in FP2 of the Monaco Grand Prix, without using the softest tyres. The RB F1 driver is pleased with his first day and his preparation for the crucial qualifying session tomorrow.

“The first day was positive for us again. From the first session, I felt good. There are still a few things we can improve to extract performance, but that’s what practice is for,” Tsunoda stated.

“For instance, I think we can generally improve in the braking phase because we had some sliding, and obviously, with the C5 tyre (the softest compound), it is very sensitive.”

“Apart from that, the warm-up is good, and everything is positive, so it’s just about fine-tuning the little things that always matter, especially here in Monaco. The overall pace is there, and I look forward to improving things further tomorrow to maximise for qualifying.”

Daniel Ricciardo was more reserved but happy to return to Monaco after a year away from the Principality: “I’m happy to be back in Monaco; it’s nice to drive an F1 car on this circuit. I’m pleased with the work we did today; I think we have the pace.”

“The lap times probably didn’t show everything, so hopefully, by putting on the soft tyres tomorrow, we can fight in the top 10. I felt I found a better rhythm towards the end of FP2, and I was happy with the last lap I did on the mediums.”

“Considering all of the above, I think we are in a good position, and now it’s about making the necessary adjustments. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow; I’m excited because qualifying day in Monaco is probably one of the coolest days on the entire F1 calendar.”
