Tsunoda Shines in Brazil - Proving His True Potential

Confidence Restored: Tsunoda Steps Up in Brazil

15/11/2024

Yuki Tsunoda’s stellar performance in Brazil boosted his confidence, delivering crucial points and proving his pace on the global stage.

Yuki Tsunoda admits he gained significant confidence from his last weekend in Brazil, with crucial points scored for RB F1 and an impressive 3rd place in qualifying that confirmed his strong pace.

While Liam Lawson remains Red Bull’s favored candidate for a potential replacement of Sergio Perez in the main team, the Japanese driver is nevertheless relieved.

“That kind of performance was very necessary,” he admits.

“It wasn’t easy in Brazil. From the first free practice session, I didn’t really have grip, and I made a lot of changes, including parts. Things improved a lot under my guidance, which clearly gives confidence.”

“I just needed a quiet weekend after Austin and Mexico, where I didn’t have clean race weeks. Austin started really well, but… I made mistakes in the race. In Mexico, it was just my fault in qualifying. There were good opportunities there, good pace, but I lost the chance for myself.”

“I just needed a very clean race week in Brazil. Confidence… I think I always have confidence. But at some point, you have to prove it on track.”
