Lance Stroll believes Aston Martin can still make progress in 2025, despite a difficult start, and is determined not to give up.
Lance Stroll is fully aware that Aston Martin F1 has had a rough start to the 2025 season, which is why he believes the team must continue to evolve its current AMR25. The Canadian driver isn’t being unrealistic, but he also recognizes the importance of preparing for the 2026 regulations next year.
“We’re not where we want to be. The year is still young, and we’ll do what we can,” Stroll stated. “Next year, there’s going to be a major rule change, and we need to focus on that. But we’re not giving up yet. We’re not giving up on this season.”
“We’ll push as hard as we can. Will it be enough to make headway over the midfield? We’ll see. But there’s still room for improvement, and we’ll do what we can to bring that about.”
“I don’t think we have a set target. We want to be much more competitive than we are right now. It’s just about being as competitive as possible until the end of the season and seeing what that brings us.”
“That’s the only thing we can focus on—bringing what we can. We have some ideas for the upcoming races, but we need to improve in every area. That’s clear.”
Aston Martin’s dramatic fall from grace over the past two years has been a tough reality: “You know, there are years where it’s tougher than others, and then there are years where you have a good car but still find yourself fighting hard.”
“Two years ago, when we were here after the first lap, we were in first and third, or something like that, and I was fighting for a podium finish before the engine failure.”
“Then, two years later, you’re fighting for 16th place. But that’s the nature of Formula 1. You always have to give your best, keep pushing, and things can change quickly.”
When asked about the root cause of Aston Martin’s struggles, Stroll gave a blunt response: “I think if we had the answer to that question, we wouldn’t be in this situation today.”
