Gunther Steiner casts doubt on the careers of four leading F1 drivers, signaling potential upheavals.
A group of current and highly experienced Formula 1 drivers should be concerned about their future on the grid.
This is the view of former Haas F1 team principal, Gunther Steiner, who earlier this week said he believes Red Bull should part ways with Sergio Perez (as read here), citing underperformance.
He also thinks speculation that one of his former drivers – Kevin Magnussen – should also worry about being ousted is justified.
“I like Kevin,” Steiner said, “but what he has recently done against (Nico) Hulkenberg is not impressive, to say the least. We need to be open about this.”
“Either Hulkenberg has become so good that they can no longer be compared, or Kevin simply isn’t where he needs to be right now to deserve an F1 seat.”
Steiner also pointed out a few other drivers clinging to their seats by a thread.
“We have Checo (Perez), Danny (Daniel Ricciardo), Kevin, (Valtteri) Bottas.”
“It’s hard to say anything about Bottas, as his car really isn’t good. We really don’t know where he stands. But there are quite a few of them who need to worry.”
“People giving them a seat now must ask themselves: ‘Is this the best solution for the team?'”
