Stake F1 endured a challenging race in Austin, with performance issues and strategic missteps hindering their ability to compete effectively.
Stake F1 finished far behind its rivals in Austin, despite a promising start to the race. Alessandro Alunni Bravi reviewed the strategies of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, and the lack of performance that led them to finish 17th and 19th, particularly after the Chinese driver spun early in the race.
“The race followed a pattern similar to the entire weekend, and we were unable to recover any positions from our starting spots,” said Alunni Bravi.
“While Valtteri finished 17th with a one-stop strategy, similar to the top 10 drivers, Guanyu’s spin at the first corner on lap 10 led us to maintain a two-stop strategy to take advantage of the tire compound delta. In hindsight, we could have opted for a one-stop strategy immediately after the incident and brought Valtteri in a bit later than lap 16.”
The lack of performance was exacerbated by higher-than-expected degradation: “However, our strategic decisions were ultimately influenced by the team’s race pace, as we observed more degradation than our direct competitors during the stints, particularly towards the end.”
“The race result is disappointing, and no one in the team is satisfied with the outcome, but we must keep our motivation high and work hard to find a way to get back in the game. We recognize the need to continue analyzing the causes of our lack of performance and to fight to move forward.”
