Stake F1’s ongoing performance issues were evident at Silverstone, with the Sauber C44 unable to compete effectively in the challenging conditions.
Stake F1 did not take advantage of the challenging conditions at Silverstone to achieve a better result than usual. Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the team’s representative, regrets once again the lack of performance from the Sauber C44.
“This race confirms our lack of pace, and unfortunately, we could not meet the objectives we set before the weekend,” laments the Italian, recounting the difficulties faced by Guanyu Zhou and Valtteri Bottas.
“Guanyu’s race was compromised by starting on softs: we did not expect the levels of graining and tire degradation he experienced during his first stint, which forced us into an early pit stop before the rain arrived. Of course, the recovery was very difficult, and the rest of his race was irretrievable.”
“Valtteri had a better race, with good strategy choices and pit stops. He was on pace with all our main competitors, but he also suffered from overheating on the front end and graining, which significantly affected his pace on all the compounds we used.”
Now, Stake hopes to bring improvements that can help their performance: “We clearly need to make a step forward, and that’s why we must continue working hard to address our weaknesses through a continuous and committed development program starting from the next events.”
