Stake F1 Faces Crucial Wake-Up Call in Jeddah

12/03/2024

After a promising start in Bahrain, Stake F1, led by Sauber, confronts a challenging reality with its performance in Jeddah.”

Following Bahrain, where the team was buoyed by a performance improvement over 2023, there was a cold shower in Jeddah.

Valtteri Bottas has conceded that the disappointing race pace calls for “a wake-up call.”

“I think this has to be an initial alarm bell,” Bottas stated.

“Obviously, it’s only the second race out of 24, and we have things in the pipeline, but we absolutely need to improve not just the race pace but also the team’s operation.”

“We’ve had significant issues with the wheel nuts at pit stops in both races. I believe it was the same issue that I (in Bahrain) had for Guanyu (Zhou) with a threaded nut getting stripped, so that’s something we need to solve because even if we make the car faster, if we have long pit stops, it’s all for naught.”

“We have some elements coming for Australia, and at least now we have two weeks to try to solve the pit stop issue we’ve had.”

“We need a jolt in Melbourne.”
