Amidst strategic gambles in Miami, Stake F1’s daring attempts fall short, leaving Zhou and Bottas without reward.
Stake F1 finished the Miami Grand Prix still without any points.
The Swiss team placed 14th with Guanyu Zhou and 16th with Valtteri Bottas.
“Today, we tried everything we could,” said the Chinese driver.
“It was a tough race that closely resembled yesterday’s sprint session, with a good first stint. Unfortunately, I found myself stuck behind Alex [Albon], and although I could take advantage of our better cornering speed, we simply couldn’t match the top speed of his Williams. Even with DRS available, I wasn’t able to close the gap enough to overtake.”
“We continue to work hard: unlike some of our competitors, we have not introduced major updates in the last two races, but the team is making significant efforts and we remain confident that our upcoming developments, starting next race in Imola, will perform as expected, hopefully allowing us to compete for points.”
For the Finn, who started on softs – the only one to make this choice – “it was good to try something different with the strategy today, given where we started from.”
“Unfortunately, the timing of the safety car didn’t really work out for us. We didn’t have the pace we were hoping for, so ultimately, there wasn’t much we could do to advance in the pack.”
“Still, we learned a lot this weekend. We’ll have a chance to bounce back in two weeks at Imola, on a completely different track. We’ll also be bringing new parts, which should help further: as we saw this weekend, the battle around us is extremely tight, and even the smallest margin could make all the difference.”
