Norris targets a win at Silverstone, aiming to surpass his 2023 podium finish.
Lando Norris returns this weekend to the scene of his first podium of the 2023 season, as McLaren F1 introduced its first major upgrade, propelling it to its current level. With a significantly improved base, the British driver is aiming for victory.
“I’m incredibly excited to participate in the British Grand Prix. I love Silverstone. It’s a fun circuit and of course, it’s my home race and the team’s too. The support from the local fans makes the event even more special,” Norris stated.
“We know we have a fast car that can contend for victory on any type of circuit, which excites us for the remainder of the season. Climbing onto the podium last year at Silverstone was extraordinary, but I know that winning at home would be on another level.”
Oscar Piastri is pleased to be heading to Silverstone after a second-place finish in Austria, and hopes for another strong result: “Finishing second in Austria is great motivation ahead of the final leg of this triple-header. Silverstone is one of my favourite circuits and it’s an important race for the team, as it’s McLaren’s home Grand Prix.
“I’m sure we’ll see a lot of papaya fans in the stands. I had some very intense moments there last year and I’m confident this will be another thrilling weekend. The most important thing is that we continue to add points to our tally.”
Andrea Stella, McLaren’s director, is delighted to conclude this triple-header at Silverstone: “We arrive at the last race of this triple-header more motivated and resilient than at the start.”
“While we’ve faced challenges, there are also many positives to take away. Our Grand Prix at Silverstone is always special for us, not only because the fans are extraordinary, but also because many of our team members attend with their friends and family.”
“Although it’s great to be back at the front of the grid, we must acknowledge that every weekend will be challenging as our competitors are very strong. However, when I look at our two drivers and the members of our team, both on the circuit and at Woking, I know we have a team capable of delivering consistent results.”
