Shwartzman Returns for FP1 in Mexico with Stake F1

Ferrari’s Shwartzman to Replace Zhou in Mexico FP1

23/10/2024

Robert Shwartzman steps in for Zhou at Stake F1 during FP1 in Mexico, fulfilling Ferrari’s driver development program commitments.

Stake F1 has confirmed that Ferrari reserve driver Robert Shwartzman will replace Guanyu Zhou during the first free practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix this weekend.

This will be Shwartzman’s second F1 appearance this season, following his participation in the first practice session at the Dutch Grand Prix after the summer break.

On that occasion at Zandvoort, Shwartzman replaced Valtteri Bottas, and now it’s Zhou’s turn to miss a session in Mexico.

Shwartzman’s participation in this weekend’s first practice will allow the Hinwil-based team to meet F1’s requirement of running a young driver in two free practice sessions during a season.

“Following his participation in the Dutch Grand Prix earlier this season, Ferrari’s reserve driver will take Guanyu’s place for FP1 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.”

“Once again, we are partnering with Scuderia Ferrari to give young talent a chance in practice sessions. Good luck, Robert!”
