Audi’s Sauber team nears decision on 2025 lineup, likely confirming rookie Gabriel Bortoleto over veteran Bottas within days.
The Sauber team, owned by Audi, is just days away from announcing Nico Hulkenberg’s teammate for 2025.
Barring any major surprises, various sources in Brazil have reported that McLaren has agreed to release promising rookie Gabriel Bortoleto as part of a long-term contract with Audi.
Sauber opted not to make the announcement during the Sao Paulo weekend, despite Bortoleto being Brazilian, intending to keep the deal under wraps for a few more days.
However, Sauber representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi stated just before the Brazilian GP on Sunday that the team expects to name Hulkenberg’s teammate in the coming days.
“Well, yes, they’re telling me decisions will be made soon,” confirms Valtteri Bottas, who now appears on the verge of being let go.
“In my view, it’s a good thing, as it should have happened a long time ago. We’ve already been waiting for quite a while.”
“Whether it’s a yes or a no, I hope we know soon. I also need to know what I’m doing in 2025.”
