Sainz Eyes Audi or Williams for Future F1 Drive

Sainz Shifts Focus to Midfield Teams for 2025

30/05/2024

Carlos Sainz reveals a shift in perspective, contemplating Audi or Williams for a medium to long-term F1 project where he feels valued and heard.

In Monaco, Carlos Sainz has clearly altered his tone regarding his future in Formula 1.

With a definitive “no” from Mercedes F1, who are unwilling to make a decision before autumn (between Max Verstappen or Kimi Antonelli), the prospect of a seat in a top team has dwindled to a single option: Red Bull Racing.

Could Sergio Perez’s underwhelming performances work in Sainz’s favour? Or will Yuki Tsunoda be promoted? The Ferrari driver, still without a drive for 2025, seems evidently prepared to embark on a new project with a midfield team: Audi F1 or Williams?

“My priority is obviously to stay in F1 and not find myself without a seat,” he affirms today.

“Have I changed my perspective? Perhaps. All of this is about finding a medium-long term project where I feel valued, where I feel heard, where I sense I can commit. I want a medium or long-term project that will be beneficial to my career.”

“I believe that just going to certain places for one or two years and then leaving is not the right way to approach Formula 1.”

“If you look at successful, winning teams, they have been built from the ground up and have developed good things together with their drivers, and I believe in these things. I want to ensure I feel loved, valued, and at home in my new team.”
