Sainz Eyes Jeddah Redemption After Bahrain Blow

Carlos Sainz returns to the high-speed Jeddah streets aiming to bounce back after Bahrain, with Williams ready for a fresh fight.

After a tough season opener in Bahrain that ended without any points—and a DNF for Carlos Sainz—Williams is looking to bounce back in Saudi Arabia.

For Sainz, this weekend marks a return to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, a track he missed last year with Ferrari due to appendicitis. The Spanish driver is eager to get back behind the wheel on one of the fastest street circuits in Formula 1.

“Coming off a DNF is never ideal,” Sainz admitted. “But we showed promising pace throughout the Bahrain weekend, and the goal is to build on that in Jeddah.”

“It’s a fast and challenging track that demands full focus during practice, and total confidence in the car for qualifying. I haven’t had a proper run here in two years, so I’m really looking forward to driving this exciting layout again and making the most of what we’ve learned from the last two weeks.”

Teammate Alex Albon echoed that sense of optimism.

“Bahrain was tough, but we took away a lot of valuable data—and our race pace was strong,” Albon said. “Now we’re focused on putting that into action as we head into the final race of this opening triple-header.”

“Jeddah is one of the fastest street circuits on the calendar, with almost no room for error. The margins are incredibly tight this year, so every detail in qualifying and the race matters. We’ll need to be sharp and give everything to stay competitive in the midfield battle.”
