Rosberg's View on Hamilton Winning F1 2024 Title

Rosberg Neutral on Hamilton’s F1 Title Chances

14/01/2024

Nico Rosberg, the 2016 World Champion, maintains a neutral stance on Lewis Hamilton‘s potential to win another F1 title, focusing instead on Mercedes’ overall performance and future prospects in the sport.

Nico Rosberg experienced an intense rivalry with his former friend, Lewis Hamilton, when they both drove for Mercedes F1. When asked if he would like to see the British driver win another world title, the 2016 world champion did not express a preference.

“I would be happy if Mercedes won, because they are somewhat my racing family from the past,” Rosberg stated. “But for Lewis, I am neutral. I just want there to be a great fight for the championship and for the best driver to win. But I don’t have a bias in that sense, obviously.”

Rosberg is convinced that Mercedes will return to the top level, and he even believes he could see his former teammate Hamilton fighting for the world title as early as this year. However, he also noted some weaknesses in 2023.

“We’ve seen flashes of brilliance from the Mercedes team. They lack consistency. But look at Austin. They were in contention for the win there and actually had the fastest car of the weekend.”

“So, we’ve seen that they are beginning to understand the car, but the problem is that they still lack regularity. They still lack straight-line performance, but they are starting to figure all that out.”

“I believe in Mercedes’ ability because I was there. I know how strong they are. It’s still the same people. So, there’s definitely a chance that Hamilton will be fighting for the championship again next year.”
