Nico Rosberg expresses concern over Lewis Hamilton’s alarming form at Ferrari, after a dismal Spanish GP performance raises fresh doubts.
Rosberg, the 2016 Formula 1 World Champion, present in Barcelona this weekend, stated that Lewis Hamilton finds himself in a very difficult situation at Ferrari following a disappointing Spanish Grand Prix.
He also admitted he finds it hard to watch his former Mercedes teammate struggling so much in 2025.
Despite outperforming his teammate Charles Leclerc in qualifying, Hamilton endured a tough race at the Barcelona circuit on Sunday, showing a significantly slower pace than the Monegasque driver.
The seven-time world champion was instructed to swap positions with Leclerc early in the race, as he struggled to find pace from the very first stint.
Leclerc went on to secure his third podium of the season with Ferrari, finishing third behind the McLaren duo.
Hamilton’s Form Deepens Worries
Hamilton, meanwhile, had to settle for a distant sixth place, overtaken by Nico Hülkenberg’s Sauber in the closing laps.
Rosberg admitted serious concern for Hamilton after what he called “a catastrophic race.”
“It’s hard to watch.”
“Sunday was a horrible day for him because he was simply slow on track, which is very unusual.”
“Yes, sometimes he’s off the pace in qualifying, but in the race, he’s usually excellent. But this time it was the opposite, and the race was terribly bad.”
“He has no answers either. He just kept saying he wanted to go home.”
“Was there damage to the floor? These floors are very sensitive—there could always be a bit of damage, and it costs a lot of time.”
“When you don’t have answers, it’s really difficult for a driver. And then you see your teammate making his way to third place, on the podium.”
“Considering his season so far, it’s a very dark situation.”
