Ferrari plans to recruit Renault F1 staff, with De Meo confirming no notice period for employees choosing to switch.
The news of the closure of Renault F1’s engine department in Viry-Chatillon has sparked widespread discussions behind the scenes.
Ferrari team principal, Frédéric Vasseur, has not remained idle and appears to have launched a recruitment drive targeting Alpine’s engine department to strengthen Ferrari’s.
While Alpine F1 is expected to turn to Mercedes for customer engines (though the Ferrari option hasn’t been ruled out), several employees wishing to remain actively involved in the sport could do so.
And Luca de Meo, Renault Group CEO, confirms he will not enforce a notice period, even though Viry has guaranteed job security for all employees.
“Viry will transform without any job losses, that’s guaranteed,” he told L’Equipe.
“Now, if some are positively motivated by the idea of building a F1 engine, they’ll have no issue finding a new position.”
“Fred Vasseur, Ferrari’s team boss, called us to ask if he could take people from us and skip the ‘garden leave’ before they join Ferrari. Fine. That’s life. We’re not going to imprison our guys.”
