Christian Horner commends RB20’s performance, aligning with pre-race simulations, as Verstappen secures second place.
Christian Horner is pleased that Max Verstappen finished second. The Red Bull director is happy to see progress on the RB20, explaining that the single-seater performed as expected in simulations.
“What’s encouraging,” Horner stated, “is that the car responded as we hoped and as our tools indicated. So, I think that’s the encouraging factor. I believe the team is starting to find a direction and understand where some of the limits are and what causes these limits.”
Horner revealed that former F1 driver Sebastien Buemi spent an extended period in the simulator at Milton Keynes on Friday to help Red Bull address its issues: “He consumed a lot of Red Bull to keep going.”
“He played a significant role, like the entire team, working hard during long days and nights. The advantage is that there is no factory shutdown in the three weeks leading up to the next round, so it will be a hive of activity.”
Horner praises the perseverance of his employees amid challenges, with Red Bull eager to return to winning and podiums in upcoming races: “I think everyone on the team is extremely motivated.”
“We are still fighting for both championships, so we took another hit in the constructors’ standings today, but there are still many races left. And, you know, some circuits where we have performed very well in the past.”
