Verstappen, Waché, and Lambiase strategize to end the season on a high, aiming for total alignment.
Max Verstappen assured that all is well between him, Red Bull, and Gianpiero Lambiase after clear discussions took place at Spa.
Tensions between Verstappen and his race engineer were so high during the Hungarian Grand Prix that Red Bull team boss Christian Horner organized a meeting between them and Technical Director Pierre Waché on the eve of the Belgian Grand Prix.
This discussion was considered productive, with Waché involved because Verstappen’s frustration, though directed at “GP,” largely stemmed from his feeling that Red Bull’s upgraded RB20 was “not good enough.”
“Everything has been resolved,” Verstappen said today.
“I’m not going to talk about it for hours. It’s very straightforward, we don’t need to discuss it at length, and we’re going full throttle again. That’s how it should be, and honestly, that’s how it’s always been.”
“A lot of things were also taken out of context.”
“Now, everyone must push in the same direction after the break. We need to improve, otherwise it will be a long season, that’s my takeaway from this exchange with Pierre and GP.”
“It was very clear, everyone needs to give their all and we will make the most of it until the end of the season. I hope this will still provide enough opportunities to win a race here and there.”
“Now, it’s up to us to try to set the record straight, but it’s not easy.”
“The other teams around us are very consistent and are simply doing well. So yes, I hope we will have more chances to win.”
“Every race has been a learning experience, we could have done better in hindsight, but hindsight is always easy. Every weekend is always a learning experience, but that’s also typical of Formula 1.”
“We need to be realistic. I’ve always said: there will come a time when the weather changes, and that’s been the case for a few races now.”
