After six months of silence, Christian Horner and Ford’s CEO Jim Farley renew their professional relationship, marking a critical juncture amidst ongoing tensions.
Christian Horner, the Red Bull team boss, and Jim Farley, CEO of Ford, have started to rekindle relations after not communicating for six months.
At the height of the scandals surrounding Horner earlier this year, Farley sent a letter to Red Bull Racing expressing his concerns.
“As we have previously stated, and without receiving a satisfactory response, the values to which Ford is committed are non-negotiable,” Farley had written.
“We are also frustrated by the lack of complete transparency on this issue from our side, as business partners, and look forward to a full report of all findings.”
Red Bull and Ford are collaborating on the brand-new Formula 1 engine project called Red Bull Powertrains, which will power both of the energy drink company’s F1 teams starting in 2026.
Horner and Farley had not exchanged a single word since the Ford CEO wrote the letter… until the end of February! But that changed as Farley attended the Italian GP at Monza. The 62-year-old Ford CEO and Horner met on Saturday.
And on Sunday, Red Bull’s Thai majority shareholder, Chalerm Yoovidhya, and co-CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, also met at Monza, as the team now tries to calm the latest turbulence within the management.
“It must be said very clearly that all these quarrels within the team over the past six months have obviously left their mark,” observes Gerhard Berger, close to Red Bull Austria.
“The fire alarms must go off now. The team is sinking in terms of performance and everyone must row in the same direction.”
A Red Bull spokesperson confirmed that Farley and Horner spoke at length on Saturday.
“The meeting went well. They talked for about an hour about plans for next year and for 2026.”
Horner himself denied any tension with Farley.
“There’s nothing, absolutely nothing. All is well between Red Bull and Ford and 2026 is progressing well.”
