Red Bull encountered early setbacks in Bahrain testing but remains optimistic, aiming to resolve key issues before the season opener in Melbourne.
Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen completed 81 laps of the Bahrain circuit over the three days of winter testing. The Dutch driver tested two different front wings as well as two floors, and while the RB21 occasionally seemed unsettled, he remains confident.
“I think we had a good day today. There were a few small issues, but overall, we achieved a good portion of what we wanted to do,” said the four-time world champion.
“I think it wasn’t bad, but at the same time, there is still some work to do. However, that’s what we expected, and we will keep working and trying to improve.”
“I hope that in Melbourne, we will learn a bit more by analyzing all the data and seeing where we stand. It’s hard to gauge everyone’s pace, so there’s still some work ahead. We’re looking forward to racing again in Australia.”
Red Bull’s technical director acknowledges problems but remains optimistic
Red Bull Racing’s technical director, Pierre Waché, admitted that the team encountered several issues that still need to be resolved. However, the Frenchman is relieved to have time to address them:
“Testing wasn’t as smooth as we had hoped, but it’s better to find problems here than later.”
“And that’s why we are here—to understand the car. The weather wasn’t on our side and wasn’t very representative of this circuit, but we tried to explore the car’s potential and understand how it reacts to different setups, and I think we more or less achieved that.”
“I think it’s very difficult to establish a pecking order for Melbourne across the grid. You can see that four teams seem quite fast, including us, but we haven’t focused too much on the others. We’ve tried to concentrate on our own program.”
“I’m not as happy as I could be because the car didn’t always respond as we wanted, but it’s heading in the right direction. Maybe the extent of that direction wasn’t as significant as we had anticipated, and that’s something we need to work on for the first race and future development.”
