RB F1 Ricciardo Shines Tsunoda Faces Setback

Promising Start for Ricciardo, Tsunoda Troubled

19/07/2024

RB F1’s Ricciardo excels in Hungary, while Tsunoda encounters technical difficulties, showcasing the team’s competitive edge.

It was a mixed day for the RB F1 team at the Hungaroring in Hungary.

Regrettably, Yuki Tsunoda’s car encountered a front suspension setup issue during FP2, limiting his track time and relegating him to only the 19th fastest lap.

“Overall, it was a good day for us as a team, and we started off strong in FP1. FP2 was disrupted on the track with Leclerc’s crash and then issues with my car derailed our run plan. While everyone else was doing their long runs, I struggled to complete a clean lap. Despite these setbacks, the team displayed strong performances similar to the early races, so the vibe is positive, and I remain confident about tomorrow, especially after seeing Daniel’s performance.”

On the other side of the garage, Daniel Ricciardo was indeed very pleased with his VCARB 01 and his 8th place in FP2.

“I’m really happy with our outcome today in terms of how the car felt, the balance, and obviously our position. I’m much more satisfied now after FP2 compared to this morning post-FP1 because I felt we had some work to do after that session. FP2 was solid, and we’re in contention for points; I was quite content and comfortable with the car whether it was running on low or high fuel. It’s only a day of practice, but it was one of those good Fridays. Tomorrow is another day; we’ll make a few adjustments tonight and continue our momentum.”
