Pierre Gasly Discusses Alpine F1 Future Amid Team Turmoil

Gasly Distances Himself from Ocon Split, Talks 2025 Plans

Pierre Gasly is in talks to continue with Alpine F1 in 2025, despite recent upheavals and his disassociation from the Ocon contract termination.

The Renault-backed squad recently parted ways with Esteban Ocon for the 2025 season, but Gasly expressed frustration to Canal Plus over suggestions that he played a role in this split.

“I have not been involved in any of the developments over the past week,” he asserted in Montreal.

“It’s quite annoying to constantly see my name come up in discussions about the team’s decision not to renew with Esteban.”

“Esteban has his relationship with the team, and I have mine; we’re not twins, we each have our own career,” he added.

Gasly acknowledged that discussions to extend his contract with Alpine are underway.

“Of course, this is something we’ve been discussing for a while. Things are progressing, but as of now, nothing is set for the future. We’ll see what I end up doing.”

As for Ocon’s replacement, Jack Doohan, who drove Ocon’s car during the first free practice session on Friday, appears to be the front-runner.

“I want to be here full-time, obviously,” stated the young Australian. “But the media create all sorts of narratives. Every day there’s a new story.”

“I enjoy being in the car and testing on this track, even if it was limited. And of course, I want to be on the grid next year. I’ve made no secret of that.”

Team boss Bruno Famin admitted that Doohan, aged 21, is “one of the candidates” but “just one of the possible candidates.”

“We’ve spoken to many people, and a lot of people have approached us,” he added in Montreal, acknowledging that Mick Schumacher is also on the list.

“He’s a young driver but also experienced with his two seasons. He’s on the list, but it’s a long list. I don’t even know how many names are on it. Everyone is talking to everyone, and there are still good drivers available for us. I’m not worried about our lineup for 2025.”
