Piastri Struggles in Q3, Settles for 4th in Miami Quali

Oscar Piastri reflects on his Q3 struggles, settling for 4th in Miami as he targets a strong race performance despite the challenges.

After qualifying 4th for the Miami Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri opened up about his performance, acknowledging that he struggled to find his rhythm.

This marks the first time this season that the McLaren F1 driver has not qualified in the top 3.

“I lost a bit of rhythm,” he admitted. “My best lap came in the first run of Q2. I reached my peak a bit too early.”

Piastri pointed out that he couldn’t find the right pace in Q3. “The car was great and deserved a better result, but both my Q3 laps were pretty tough. Finishing 4th is the price to pay.”

Looking ahead to the race, he remained cautious about his chances. “It’s going to be tight at the front. We saw how close the qualifying times were, and moving up will be difficult.”

However, Piastri is optimistic despite the challenges. “I think it’s possible. The weather isn’t too forgiving, so I believe we can make progress, but it won’t be easy.”

When asked if he would take risks for the championship, he stayed focused on the present. “I’m still aiming to score as many points as possible. It’s far too early to think about the championship, so I’ll focus on making up places and, most importantly, getting a good result tomorrow.”
