Oscar Piastri celebrated a strong second place in Monaco, acknowledging Charles Leclerc’s impressive performance throughout the weekend.
Piastri finished second at the Monaco Grand Prix after attempting to put pressure on Charles Leclerc throughout the race. The McLaren F1 driver was cautious not to fall into any traps and tried to capitalize on the slow pace at the start, but to no avail.
“It was a tricky race, the pace at the start was incredibly slow. I didn’t have enough in the car to take advantage, but I thank the team, it’s been a very good weekend, it’s nice to secure a good result,” Piastri said.
The Australian was asked whether a pole position could have possibly secured him the victory. However, he credited Leclerc, explaining that he was far from being able to clinch the pole position.
“That’s true, but to be honest, Charles was incredible all weekend, they were flat out from the first lap. He pulled out a special lap in qualifying at home. The opportunity was there, but I would have had to deliver the best lap of my life. Still, I’m very happy with this second place.”
