Oscar Piastri refuses to stay behind Lando Norris. The Australian is ready to fight for McLaren’s top spot and a shot at the title.
Piastri isn’t here to play second fiddle. As he gears up for the new F1 season with McLaren, the Australian has one goal in mind—starting strong and making an impact.
Despite Lando Norris gaining favor within the team last year, both drivers are entering 2025 on equal footing. And Piastri is determined to keep it that way. He knows that a strong start could prevent him from being relegated to a supporting role if McLaren finds itself in a title fight.
“I trust my abilities. We’re both starting with zero points, and we’re both fighting for a world title.”
Aware that he still has areas to improve from last season, Piastri remains confident that he and his team have done the necessary work to take a big step forward.
No Team Orders—Just Pure Racing
When asked about how McLaren would handle an internal battle for the championship, Piastri was clear: it’s all about speed.
“We’re starting fresh, and at the end of the day, the fastest driver will win. Or at least, the one who finishes better if it’s not a victory.”
For now, there are no complicated team dynamics—just two drivers pushing for wins. Piastri and Norris know what’s at stake, and after last season’s discussions, their approach is set: race hard, race fair, and aim for the top.
“This year, we’re both starting from scratch. One of us will be happy, the other will be disappointed. That’s why I plan to start strong and make a statement.”
McLaren’s internal battle could be one of the most exciting storylines of the season. And if Piastri has his way, it won’t take long before he’s seen as the team’s number one.
