Christian Horner suggests Cadillac F1’s 2026 entry could benefit from the experience of Sergio Perez, should he continue in Formula 1.
In 2026, the F1 grid is set to expand with the arrival of General Motors as the 11th team under the Cadillac banner.
Christian Horner, Red Bull’s team principal, had initially opposed Andretti’s entry, but a project directly under the General Motors name is clearly better for F1’s image.
A new manufacturer, a new threat to Red Bull Racing?
“This doesn’t change anything for us, really.”
“We’re simply focused on ourselves. It just means the paddock will be a bit busier with an 11th team in 2026. For us, it’s business as usual.”
“They have their own mountain to climb. We’re working hard to stay on top of ours.”
When asked if this might create opportunities for some drivers to return, Horner suggested it could also be a path back for Sergio Perez.
“I wouldn’t be surprised. As for Daniel (Ricciardo), I’m not so sure. He seems to be done with F1, and I think I’ve read he’s closed the door himself.”
“However, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they went for the experience of someone like Sergio, should he decide to continue his F1 career.”
