Pérez Hails Fan Support as Millions Rally Behind

11/09/2024

Sergio Pérez praises widespread support from his Mexican fans, highlighting their crucial role during challenging times.

Sergio Pérez admits that the support from his fellow Mexicans makes this year’s criticisms much easier to handle. Despite his recently signed Red Bull contract for 2025 and 2026, the 34-year-old driver entered the summer break uncertain about his career amid speculation and criticism.

Recently, he has closed the gap with Max Verstappen, but when the difference was much larger, there were numerous calls for Pérez’s dismissal. He states that the tremendous support he receives in Mexico has made it easier to cope with the situation.

“The affection the Mexican people have for me is incredible,” he told Grupo Formula. “For every person who speaks ill of me, there are millions who defend me. That’s what I’ve come to understand. This support is something I really appreciate.”

“In the end, you know you are not alone. But even when you are on the other side of the world, there is a whole country behind you, pushing you in the car, so to speak. I feel it especially in the bad times. It’s something that motivates me a lot and makes everything exciting.”

And it’s also what makes him want to continue fighting for victories and a world title: “I will never give up as long as I have not realized the dreams of all these people who support me so much.”
