Pérez: I Didn’t End My Career the Way I Deserve

Sergio Perez considers a Formula 1 return with Cadillac in 2026 after a difficult Red Bull exit he feels was undeserved.

Perez still keeps the door open for a return to F1. The Mexican’s career seemed to have come to an end at the close of last year after a very difficult season with Red Bull. However, Perez’s stock has risen again in light of the arguably tougher struggles faced by his successors, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda.

Perez is now strongly linked to the new team set to enter Formula 1 in 2026, Cadillac. Asked about what he expects from the American team next year, the former Force India driver remains cautious.

“I’m not sure what’s going to happen,” he said during the Festival of Ideas in Puebla, Mexico, on Saturday. “I’m aware that I didn’t finish my career the way I would have liked and the way I deserve. If I come back, it will be with a major project that motivates me. If I find that, I’ll come back.”

As for the message he wants to share with the audience at the Festival of Ideas: “Never give up, that would be the main message,” said Perez, who had that very slogan on the back of his helmet during his time with Red Bull.
