Pérez Faces Brazil Challenge After Mexico's GP Disappointment

Verstappen, Pérez Target Redemption and Big Points in Brazil

30/10/2024

After a difficult Mexico GP, Verstappen and Pérez seek redemption and vital points as they head into Brazil’s demanding weekend.

Max Verstappen will seek to maintain his unbeaten streak in Sprints this year, having won the first four of the season. The Red Bull driver also wants to put a challenging weekend in Mexico, marred by significant penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct, behind him and secure more points.

“We now head to Brazil for the penultimate Sprint weekend of the 2024 season. Mexico was a tough weekend, but there were many positives, including a successful evolution package, strong team resilience, and a well-executed race. We’re taking all those positives with us to Brazil, and they motivate us to keep pushing in these final critical races,” Verstappen stated.

“As we expected, the championship fight is incredibly tight, and our competitors are continuing to develop and make their own strides. However, we remain focused on the task at hand, keeping our heads down to deliver more points for the team.”

Sergio Pérez acknowledges that his home Grand Prix was his worst of the season, with poor results and significant disappointment: “Mexico was the most disappointing weekend of my season. I wanted a special weekend, and as a team, we didn’t walk away with what we deserved.”

“We need more from my car to start being more competitive, and that’s the goal before Brazil. Unfortunately, we suffered a lot of damage in Mexico, so once again, it’s up to my guys to put my car in the best possible shape for the next weekend within a very short time.”

“The Sprint gives us the chance to score additional points, and we’ll aim to do just that. I intended to finish in the points in Mexico, and if we can have a more complete weekend, I’m confident we can leave Brazil in a stronger position.”
