Sergio Pérez expresses deep frustration over the lack of an investigation into his massive crash with Kevin Magnussen during the Monaco Grand Prix.
Sergio Pérez is perplexed by Kevin Magnussen’s move on the first lap of the Monaco Grand Prix. The Haas F1 driver attempted to pass the Red Bull on the Beaurivage climb, but clipped the RB20, sending it crashing into the barriers.
“It was the first lap, I lost a place to Stake. It’s the first lap, we’re not in the right position, I came out of the first corner and couldn’t see Kevin. I’m very surprised Kevin kept his foot down,” said Pérez, baffled by the stewards’ decision not to investigate.
“It was unnecessary. We had a lot of damage, the incident was very dangerous. I’m very disappointed it wasn’t investigated, because it was a huge crash, my car is completely wrecked, and it took a lot of damage.”
While admitting the weekend was disappointing and the crash frustrating, he remains optimistic about the rest of the season: “It’s very frustrating, but I trust my team. It wasn’t easy for us this weekend, but I know we’ll come back stronger.”
