Ocon Targets A524 Balance and Momentum in Austria

26/06/2024

Esteban Ocon sets sights on perfecting A524’s balance in Austria while building on Barcelona’s momentum.

Ocon scored another point in Spain, and the Alpine F1 driver is looking towards Austria in hopes of continuing this positive, and somewhat unexpected, momentum from Spain.

The Frenchman reflects on his Sunday race before looking ahead to the Red Bull Ring.

“It was encouraging to see us perform well throughout the week in Barcelona, where we again finished tenth with my F1, taking important points in the Constructors’ Championship,” says Ocon.

“The car was relatively competitive from the start of the weekend, and we managed to perform consistently through the qualifiers to reach Q3. For my part, the race had a few more challenges. I was sliding a lot and the balance of the car was tricky, but we still comfortably finished in the points, which is positive. We just need to analyze these details to do even better next time.”

Next time is this weekend in Austria, with a Sprint at the Red Bull Ring on Saturday before the race on Sunday.

“I’ve always enjoyed racing in Austria, and I have good memories there. In 2020, after a year without a full-time seat, the first race of the season was at Spielberg.”

“I remember the very wet qualifiers that year, where we managed to qualify fifth. In 2022, we had a great weekend here, taking ten points from fifth place.”

“The circuit is quite short, so the field is usually tight, and every hundredth and thousandth of a second counts.”

“We need to find the right high-speed balance, and our goal is to continue our positive streak, which means keeping an eye on Q3 and, of course, scoring valuable points.”
