Esteban Ocon aims for a standout Formula 1 weekend at the Monaco Grand Prix, balancing strategy, risk, and consistency for Haas F1.
“It’s very special for me to come here, with the good memories of the unexpected podium two years ago. It shows that this place rewards you when you build your weekend the right way,” said Ocon.
“I love driving here every year, it’s a new year, a new team. There are different things that will matter, we will have to make two stops, so we need to build the weekend differently. But I am excited, the challenge is interesting and it should be a good weekend for us as drivers.”
The Frenchman explains what Haas is currently lacking in terms of performance: “We’re missing a bit of consistency in our performance, we want to get that back. We’ll see if it comes back or not. The last few weekends have been tough, we’ll see if it takes more time or if we’ll get there.”
Ocon enjoys everything surrounding the Monaco Grand Prix, but it’s especially the circuit that appeals to him and makes the difference: “A bit of everything, it’s special to be in Monaco, the glamour, the people who want to attend, the circuit that rewards you.”
“The more risks you take, the faster you are, but you have to gauge that properly. If you take too many risks, it ends badly. These streets haven’t changed in years, the cars have. They’re faster, bigger, but we still race here and the historical aspect is important.”
