Lando Norris remains cool under expectations, insisting he feels no added pressure as he targets the 2025 Formula 1 world championship.
Lando Norris hopes McLaren F1 fans will bet on him—and win money by trusting him in this 2025 season.
Joking about it, he insists that public expectations do not add any extra pressure and that he is aiming for the world title.
“I hope they make a lot of money on me,” Norris joked. “I’d feel bad if I let them down after they put money on me. Honestly, it’s not something that will influence me in terms of pressure. That’s just how things have played out. Because I did well last year, these are our expectations.”
However, the Briton expects stronger resistance from his teammate, Oscar Piastri: “Every year is a new year, and every driver comes back more determined, myself included. Everyone wants to prove their point and improve their weaknesses—things like that.”
“So if we look at last year, I have a very strong teammate. He was very aggressive and fast—aggressive because he gained speed very, very quickly and did a great job early on.”
Once again, Norris confirms he does not feel any specific pressure regarding his teammate, even though he knows he will have to be wary. For him, it is simply part of the overall challenge he must face.
“He can only improve from what he’s done so far, so for me, delivering last year’s performances while improving just as much was a good thing. But I don’t feel any pressure from it at all. I know there are expectations, that we have more partners and sponsors, and that we have more fans.”
