Norris Seeks Improvement Amidst Uncertain Conditions

Piastri Optimistic, McLaren Braces for Tough Weekend

08/06/2024

Amidst the unpredictable Montreal weather, McLaren’s Piastri remains hopeful but cautious about the upcoming race weekend.

Oscar Piastri was content with his day in Montreal, despite the tricky conditions. The McLaren F1 driver remains relatively confident for the rest of the weekend and the performance of his car.

“Training is over. The day was a bit difficult with the weather, so it’s hard to know where we stand,” Piastri stated. “I think we look good, but it’s hard to be sure since we didn’t do all the tests we wanted.”

“But it’s the same for everyone. Our pace and our times on the intermediates in EL2 seemed solid, so that’s a positive point, but I think it will be a complicated weekend for everyone. I’m looking forward to getting back on track.”

Lando Norris would have liked to drive more but is patiently dealing with the situation: “It’s never enough, but we learned some things. We didn’t learn enough on the dry, so it’s not ideal. But we learned things, we’re in a good situation even if it’s tricky.”

“It was a reasonably good day. I think we are a bit behind currently, Ferrari seems ahead. But I really don’t know where we stand. The conditions change, and that changes everything about the times.”
